The Wine and Water Tombola raised £255 at the Harpenden Christmas Carnival on the 23rd of November.

14 presentations were given in this year.

Musoto Appeal launched 6 Feb 08 resulted in £4300.

The Town Council nominated Cllr Bert Pawle, currently Mayor of St Albans is to be the HSOA Harpenden Council representative.

In addition to regular meetings of the the Trustees, and the Fundraising Team taking place, a Sustainability sub-committee was formed to investigate the problems with transferring the sustainability of Musoto Christian School locally to Musoto.

HSOA is represented as a member at weekly meetings of Links Harpenden, the local chapter of Business Networking International.

2007

Following our success at Harpenden Farmers Market (Aug 07), Harpenden Christmas Carnival on the 25th of November featured our popular 'Water or Wine Tombola'.

We raised over £280 for Musoto Christian School and gave away many leaflets about this project.

Our stall at Harpenden Farmers Market (Aug 07) was a great success, raising HSoA’s profile as well as money to support Musoto Christian School.

Visitors to the stall had the opportunity to win a bottle of wine (or water!), find out information about HSoA and try their hand at African Djembe drumming!  Whilst other volunteers performed some flag dancing to the rhythm of the drums!

We raised over £300 on the day, and more importantly spoke to a number of people who were interested in helping us in the future.

There were a variety of African bracelets and other jewellery, batik paintings, table mats, sun hats, and book marks from Uganda for sale.

Perhaps the main attraction though was a game in which people selected a bottle hidden within a paper bag.  Each bag contained either a bottle of wine, a bottle of pure water, or a bottle of polluted water (in most African villages, the only type available).  The bottles of wine were kindly donated by a number of pubs and shops within Harpenden.

We should also thank Colette and Jenny who did most of the preparation and on the day were assisted by the HSoA Trustees and other kind volunteers.
